CHAIR 01

This project aimed to minimise environmental effects of large logistical supply chain through areas of simplification and reduction in parts and processes, and utilising locally sourced materials. Ø100mm aluminium tube and elbow sections were selected in the creation of the chair, due to accessibility. The form was then largely dictated by restrictions posed by the material and existing angles in the elbow sections. This led to the exploration of the materials limitations, which is displayed through the seat and backrest of the chair. Reducing steps in processes used to create the chair eliminated the need to move the product around to multiple manufacturers, allowing it to be cut, pressed and welded all in the one location.
